Description
Raw (uncured) Rehmannia glutinosa, also known as Chinese Foxglove, grows wild on the sunny mountain slopes in the north of China. In traditional Chinese medicine it is used for its ability to clear heat and “cool the blood”. Due to this effect it is used in high fever situations and chronic low grade or afternoon fevers and conditions where the mouth or tongue is inflamed, red and sore.
It is anti-inflammatory and is traditionally used for joint inflammation. It is also antiallergy and is traditionally used for asthma and urtcaria. It is also nourishing to the adrenal glands.. Rehmannia is also mildly laxative.
